Should I give up writing and go with computers for a better future?

I'm 24 years old, and am making the decision to give up on writing to major in computers. The reason why: a secure future. I have a talent for writing, but all I write is fan fiction and I just don't feel like I have it in me to write my own material, and plus I'm fearful of being unemployed and barely managing to keep myself alive. So I just made the decision to get over writing and go with the best way for a secure and safe future and just smile and bear it. I am pretty good with computers, not really a genius or anything, but that's what classes are for right?

I could always still do fan fiction even with computers, or who knows I may just later on give up on writing like I did with drawing and playing the drums like I did earlier in life, and both which I wasn't really good at. Basically, I'm going with my head instead of my heart, because my heart hasn't really helped me much at all.

Am I really doing the right thing though?

Should I give up writing and go with computers for a better future?viruses

writing is a personal expression. A Computer is a tool, but nothing will or can replace an actual book.

Yours is a non-issue for the reasons above.

Now, not Happy with your style? try technical writing, ghost writing, marketing, sales, journalism, pr. once you get a knowledge base and fill your head with curious and relevant facts, you'll be in a better position to write a novel or sci-fi, or non-fiction treatise on something that intrigues you and 1,000,000 other people.
