Yes. You would need either a) a cross over ethernet cable or b) A 2 port switch and a straight through ethernet cable or c) A router (with 2 port switch) and a straight through ethernet cable

yes you can do so, either by the use of a crossover cable (a modified cat 5 cable (ethernet)) or some times even a simple cat 5 cable. The way that i've done it with a simple ether net cord is:

Plug in the ethernet cord to both computers. You want to know what the computer's name is. You can find this out by going to Control Panel%26gt; System and it should have a name around there. You want to enable folder sharing so find the folder with the files you want to share and right click and select share. now from the pc that you want to send files from, go to Start %26gt; Run. in the text field that comes up, enter the name of the computer with which you wish to transfer files. now a window should open up with the shared folders on the other computer being displayed. simply copy and paste or drag and drop at this point and wait while the super fast transfer goes through.
