Assembling and selling computers is it a good business or not?

I am thinking of starting a new business. I have been thinking of selling custom made computers based on client's needs. Is this a good, profitable and highly demanded business or not?

In some parts of the world - yeah ,best job there is ...
It USED to be a good business, but with the advent of modern assembly-line techniques and cheap foreign labor you MIGHT be able to make a living IF you can really specialize. I was going to build a computer just for the experience of it and then realized that I wouldn't save any money (or at least not much) because the cost of computers and the items that go in them has dropped so much that it just isn't worth it. IF you want to really do this then I suggest that you really specialize in just one particular thing, like audio recording, or something like that. (Audio recording has special needs when done with computers, like the hard drives should be at least 7,200 rpm, the RAM should be maximum, the audio noise caused by the computer has to be minimized or eliminated --- this kind of thing --- then you might have a viable business.)
don't take it into a shop,do it at home, keep your prices as low as possible, don't get too greedy,REMEMBER this has to pay your bills, know exactly what your doing make sure you get the parts at the cheapest possible, set yourself your own hours,be quick and reliable, give them offers, offer help, build yourself a site on common problems that might go wrong with your computers, slag off Microsoft, dell and other computer companies, say they're only power full cos' they're greedy
