Is there gold in them there computers?

We're in the scrap metal business and we've been told that the computers we scrap contain gold. Is this true? If so, how and where would we find out about removing it or selling old computers?

Any help is appreciated!

The amount of gold on computer motherboards will not justify the expense of setting up a recycling operation. Boards made after 1995 have very little gold on them. Older boards may give a better yield but you would need at least a ton of these, now ancient, boards to get started.

it's mostly on the circuit broad because reacts faster then other metals do in conductivity of electricity(info). But they mostly use gold leaf like in a goldschagger bottle so most of it in a computer is worth less than a buck or two and cost more to get it out then its worth. So your best bet is to take it to computer recyclers and get anywhere for $20 to $200 or find some one to clean the hard drive and donate it to a school.
