How long b4 computers achieve a true AI??

They're not even close to being as intricate as the human brain, but let us not forget they've been around for just over a century and their development rate is far greater than our brain's. I don't think humans will create AI; rather computers will. What do you say?

How do I know people are intelligent?

It's the same kind of unanswerable question. If you want to reduce it to brain states-- I'll call you out. If you think that we are all rule-guided, guess again. Anyone serious about this subject has to inform themselves on the microscopic level of what it is to have desire, pain, belief, will. That force is what makes the difference between a ''Furbee'' and a real, live Chiuaua. Algorithms don't give us 'understanding' [Searle ''Chinese Room Argument'']. There is more to phenomenon of thought than entering data and processing data.

In conclusion, I have no idea when. 200 years sounds right. Biologists can't even make life from a petrie dish without starting with life. It will take a fecund amount of public support. It's already begun.
