I have one table top and a laptop computer, but just one modem for internet connection. Please I want to know if it is possible to connect the two computers to use one modem for internet connection, and how can I do that? Thanks.

You need a router, which will split the internet signal coming from your modem.
You can find wired routers very cheaply these days, $30 is an average price at computer store for the basics.

Either buy a wireless router, or a wired router with 2 ethernet ports. The boys @ Best Buy should be able to steer you in the right dierction.
A dial up modem or cable modem or DSL modem?
The typical way this is done is to have computers using Ethernet into a router. The Ethernet could be wired with CAT5 or you could use wireless (802.11, a.k.a. wifi).
If you have DSL or cable this should be very easy to do and you will be happy with the results.
If this is a dial up modem, it may not be so easy to do and the performance with both of them online simultaneously will stink. Basically the idea with a dialup modem is the same, but you will have to find a router with built in analog modem. There used to be such a thing, but I haven't seen one offered in a long time. I'd check with USRobotics or 3Com, they used to make them. You might have to find a used one on Ebay?
