Technically only one. If the program does not need the cd to run I see no problem. He is a relative and it is not being sold. Just don't try to register it twice.

It should be on the "license agreement" that comes up in a window before it lets you install.

Most of the ones that I have read tell you that you are only allowed to install it in a single computer at any one time. A separate copy must be purchased for another system, OR, a separate agreement purchased that lets you install it in more than one system. It doesn't matter that you are installing it in a "relative's " computer.

What prevents you from installing it in other computers. Mostly, your own honesty. However, some manufacturers of software have protections to prevent pirates from cheating them out of buying another copy. They require you to call the customer support phone number for an installation code. They ask you for the registration number that came with your disc. Then they assign the install code. When you try to install it into another computer, the same code will not work. Of course, when you call customer service, again, they will not give you another code for the same registration number.

The only way around this is to tell them you erased the old program on the old computer and are installing your "paid" game on a new system.

Short answer: be sure to read the "License Argeement" before you click through the "next" button on the installation routine. I have friends who've been VERY disappointed by letting another friend install a copy on THEIR system before installing it in their own.
instalet first to your computer.
