How is that some brand-new computers are being sold so cheap on E-bay?

A number of brand new computers on e-bay are being sold for prices that are way below what most retailers are charging for them. I have found systems going for 拢900-950 on e-bay, that are priced at 拢1200+ on Curry's/Pc World. How do these sellers do it? Are these stolen computers? Do they not pay any taxes? They are certainly brand-new, because most of them come in sealed boxes.

I'm not sure if this question is in the right category, but I guess I'll answer it anyway.

Alot of items found on eBay are simply overstock. The manufacturer made more than they were supposed to, and are now pressed to get rid of the excess merchandise that they have no room in the warehouse for. They proceed to sell it off to other distributors, who are more than happy to pass along the savings on eBay, and make a few bucks for themselves in the process.

Then again, I imagine that SOME items are indeed acquired illegally.

I know at Dell Computers just to keep a line busy after sweeping the floors two days in a row, they'd empty out the parts inventory and run the line. The boxed systems were stacked instead of shunted over to Shipping and Receiving. The idea that maybe phone sales would snag someone looking for something sitting on the floor all ready to go. Those units eventually made it to shelves on Big Box Stores. Essentially, the units are not the latest and greatest. The buyer has to weigh the benefits if that price-range of computer is the solution for computing for the foreseeable future, as in general those machines are harder to upgrade.
